Timeout! You Need To Slow Down!
Hi, Maniacs! Did you miss me? I’ve missed you guys!
Hope you guys are well and that you have taken the time to be good to yourselves! If not, then this blog post is especially for you.
The Report
I’ve been busy with a lot of things in life lately that I have realized that I have not been able to slow down and process things. Time can get away from us and before you know it you’re in an endless cycle that won’t slow down for even a second. A part of me wonders if it’s a good thing? To be busy means less time to ruminate on things that could do you a disservice–negative thinking, habits and so on. In my case, yes, this could apply. But what about taking time to rest your mind, your emotions, your body? What about time to luxuriate in the progress that you’ve made day by day? This is something that I am also adamantly working on.
You see, you never stop working or stop doing anything. Self-care takes work! Which is probably why most people just avoid it because it’s what? You guessed it: more work! However, it is necessary to all of our successes for the long haul if we take little breaks here and there to slow ourselves down. You cannot drive a car endlessly without stopping to fill it up with gas or change its oil, so why should you as a miraculous human machine be any different?
In 2019, I am putting emphasis on having more “me” time than I had before when I was working my body into a zombified state. A quick TIMEOUT is all one needs to reevaluate, reassess and come up with new ways to do this thing called life right! Remember, a break doesn’t have to be an extended-stay, all-expenses-paid vacation! You can simply take 5 minutes at your desk, your house, your break room and just breathe. Just 5 minutes! You can do anything for 5 minutes. Well, almost anything! Take that time to pray, focus inward on positive affirmations and distract yourself from whatever hell it is you are going through. Easier said than done but I promise you a little relief goes a long way!
I took 10 minutes out of my hustle and bustle to sit down and remind myself that one of my reinforcements for self-care is to draw myself into this blog! Maniacs, this blog not only keeps you guys mentally and emotionally regulated but it also helps me out a lot, too! Writing has always been one of the ways that I can take a quick minute to jot down thoughts to see where my mind is at and whether or not I need to change a habit, do a quick assessment of my interpersonal and business relationships and just check myself before I wreck myself. Clarity is what this blog brings me–a shift of perspective into something visible and not a made=up story that I can endlessly replay on the reels in my mind. I hope this blog does you guys some service and reminds you that you are only human and that you are doing the best you can with what you got!
Remember, that you cannot be the best you if you are not taking care of YOU.
That’s all for now, guys! I’ll check back in with you real soon as there are some major things going on. I am learning every day and am just spreading the knowledge I receive.
Be Kind to yourselves, Be Kind to others and most importantly, associate with those who are Kind! Like attracts like, don’t be tainted.
