Happy Sunday, Maniacs! How are you guys? How’s your mental space? Is it full of guilt, anguish, grief, stress? Do you feel exhausted, in desperate need of a refresh? If so, feel it. Feel it and ride it out. Talk to someone about it. Go exercise, go on that lunch date, write in your journal, go to that movie, setup that therapist appointment, plan that getaway vacation. We only–for all we know–have one life and we should be taking care of ourselves in whatever capacity that we can manage.
For me, this past week was a rough one. From having to put my dog down suddenly, to having to teach my students and mask my emotions. Then to see Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain take their own lives–there were so many lows. However, not all was a tragedy. I am now a published writer whose article on fitness and mental health has reached people all over the globe. So many people related to my story of struggle with Bi-Polar disorder and how we should not be afraid to ask for help. People said I was brave to step out and be ‘Naked and Unafraid’. The stigma of mental illness must be broken. We are all in this together. If you, or someone you know is suffering from mental illness, don’t judge them or alienate them; They are breathing human beings just trying to make it through this thing called life.
To end the week on that note as well as with a Blue Hawaiian Long Island and a very sweaty dance class, I am ready to begin a new week with new goals, new thoughts and new positive affirmations. Make sure to love yourself this week, guys. Be kind, be mindful of your thoughts and treat yourself even when the smallest of victories occur.
I leave you with these affirmations:
- I AM LOVED
- I AM WORTHY OF LOVE
- I AM RICH IN HEALTH
- I AM ATTRACTING PEACE IN MY LIFE
- I AM BEAUTIFUL
- I AM ENOUGH
I love you guys! Have a great week and chat with you soon.
